Participation in AML/CFT Surveys –
Financial Institutions & Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions
This webpage is a reference for Form-Fillers who have been invited to complete an AML/CFT survey.
A supervisor will communicate to license holders that they will be using Strix Survey products, either through their official website, or through other official correspondence, and will usually make the questions & instructions available in advance of a survey.
Strix AML is a data collection and risk assessment capability used by supervisory authorities to carry out their AML/CFT mandates. The invitation you have received is a result of your jurisdiction’s AML/CFT Supervisor complying with regulations and/or to abide with international standards for which the long-term sustainability of your economy depends.
Recent developments in risk assessment requirements, guidance, and/or regulation have significantly increased the burden on supervisors, and in turn, on supervised entities.
Strix AML helps supervisors and reporting entities, such as the one(s) which you represent, to more easily provide and collect data, and then to more effectively use that data.
The benefits of using Strix AML to reporting entities are two-fold:
- Usage of Strix AML increases your jurisdiction’s Compliance and Effectiveness to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Recommendations 26 and 28, and Immediate Outcome 3, respectively, resulting in a healthy and sustainable economy that combats ML/TF/PF.
- The survey itself can serve as a blueprint on how best to combat ML/TF/PF, notably in the Controls sections. In this way, the Strix survey and accompanying instructions serve as outreach by Supervisors to Financial Institutions (FIs) and Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs) by providing guidance into best practices of identifying risk and in providing effective Controls and Risk Mitigation.

What’s more, Strix AML has been designed to improve the Form-Fillers experience. While regulations and international standards require asking for more data than ever, Strix AML helps Form-Fillers in new ways, such as by using
- Multi-layer show/hide of questions – if an entity doesn’t offer services of ABC, one does not see questions related to ABC
- Bulk paste for data entry – copy data from a spreadsheet and paste into Strix AML for a big time savings
- Real-time Data validation of data – catch mistakes before submitting a return, no disallowed characters, maximum value limits, more
- Jump to Previous / Next unanswered question – convenient to find an unanswered question when just a few remain
- Submit Incomplete – when allowed by the supervisor, and a reason is provided, reporting entities can submit an incomplete return rather than no return at all
Security and Data Management:
Strix AML ‘On-Premise’ is installed entirely at a supervisor’s own facilities. Industry standard security measures are in place to protect entities’ data and privacy, including two-factor authentication access for all Form-Fillers. FTS does not collect, receive, or maintain personal or confidential data associated with responding entities or their survey responses. All surveys are conducted from and all data is stored at Supervisor’s facilities.
Invitation Emails
Form-Fillers invited to participate in a survey will receive an email invitation sent from a supervisor’s official email address, with logo and related information.
